Scope and Contents

Collection contains histories of the Hardin, Iglehart, Kincheloe, Waters, Wickliffe, and allied families such as Neal, Logan, Foley, Lewis, Peadro, Phelps, Monroe, Dils, McQuilkin, and others. Collection also includes Jones' correspondence relating to the above genealogies and some newspaper clippings.

Overview Collection is chiefly composed of genealogical materials compiled by Ruffner R. Payne. It contains various types of genealogical information for different West Virginia families from the seventeenth to the twentieth century. Documents include charts, notes, letters, certificates, pamphlets, narrative histories, and legal documents, and date from 1805 to 1943. Scope and Contents

Transcriptions of six Revolutionary War pension applications from the Mason County Order Book 1828-1833. Also contains genealogies from Mason County families, including the Somerville, Edwards, Lemaster, Lewis, Long, etc. Contains numerous obituaries from Mason County. Several articles and newspaper clippings written about Mason County topics including the Battle of Point Pleasant, Presbyterian Church (Point Pleasant), the Silver Bridge Disaster, etc.
