Overview

Twenty-four tintypes and six paper photographic prints featuring formal portraits of mostly African Americans. Includes two tintypes and three prints of Caucasian women. All subjects are unidentified except for Mrs. Null and her daughter Hilda on a print dated October 1953. On evidence of the clothing, the tintypes appear to date from the 1880s. This collection was found in Jefferson County, West Virginia.

Prints and magazine illustrations by West Virginia artists Ray Harm (5 small items, 21 framed items; 1968-1975), Charley Harper (11 small items, 23 framed items; undated), Don Whitlach (2 framed items), and Thomas J. Allen (2 framed items). A flat storage box (20 in. x 24 in.) contains 6 Charley Harper prints and 2 biographical prospectuses on Ray Harm; a portfolio (26 in. x 32 in.) contains 1 oversize Charley Harper print ("Crow in the Snow") and 1 oversize Ray Harm print.
