Records of the Progressive Mine Workers of America.Boxes 1-36 include: convention proceedings, minutes, contracts and agreements, financial records, correspondence, mine inspectors' reports, and grievance files which make up the bulk of the records. In addition there are printed National Industrial Recovery Administration and National Recovery Administration documents on the coal industry and a microfilm copy of the union's newspaper, THE PROGRESSIVE MINER, 1932-53....

Preliminary inventory of the archives of the United Mine Workers of America conducted circa 1985. Inventory was conducted by the West Virginia Collection at the request of the UMWA, in order to help the labor organization prepare to send the materials to an archival repository.
