Charles Henry Ambler (1876-1957) was a professor of history at West Virginia University and the author of numerous books about American and West Virginia history, including The Life and Diary of John Floyd (1918). Collection contains some of Ambler's research materials for this biography of Floyd, who was a soldier and surgeon in the Virginia militia in the early nineteenth century and the governor of Virginia from 1830 to 1834.
