Overview

Three letters written by a young woman named Lynn to her parents while serving with the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) in Randolph County, West Virginia, during the summer of 1966. Frequent topics include the conditions of people's homes, the poverty of the region, the treatment of children, the isolation of the region, the townspeople and their relationships to one another, sexuality and pregnancy, her perceptions of the people that she meets, the landscape and animals of the county, and the recreational activities that she and her associates set up.
