Overview

The M.A. thesis of Majorie Maran Holmes, Duke University, 1941. The thesis contains a sketch of the life and ancestry of John Jeremiah Jacob, a Methodist minister, beginning with the family history in 1563, and his diary covers the period 1791-1829. Information on Jacob's life from the age of fifteen to nineteen years when he was an employee and member of Michael Cresap's household; his acquisition of land and residence in Hampshire County, and the beginning of his ministry there in 1789 is included.
