Records of the West Virginia Heritage Quilt Search (WVHQS), a project to document West Virginia quilts made prior to 1940, as gathered by historian and researcher Fawn Valentine. Records include oral histories of West Virginia quilters and accompanying transcripts, WVHQS files on the quilts and quilters documented in the project, and assorted other research papers. Also included is an unquilted quilt top (circa 1930s) that was documented in the project.
Also included are Valentine's personal research papers on quilts, quilt history, piecemaking techniques, and more, as well as assorted folklife publications and conference materials.
The addendum of 2025 September 19 includes assorted research files, narratives of quilters, newspaper clippings, and other material regarding historical quilts, quilting techniques, and quilters.
