VI. Memorabilia

The Memorabilia Subgroup contains plaques, awards, and gifts given to Senator Rockefeller throughout his Senate career. A number of foreign gifts from Asian countries are included, as well as the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun award. The award, established in Japan in 1875, is the highest honor given to foreign nationals each year, and it recognized Rockefeller's long-term efforts to forge economic ties between West Virginia and Japanese industry.
