Scope and Contents

This sub-series details the undertakings of William Loy, Executive Assistant to Governor Arch Moore from 1968-1977. Loy’s duties involved the day-to-day general operations of the Governor’s office. This sub-series contains state planning documents, documents relating to the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Finance and Administration, the Department of Education, the Department of Highways, state hospitals, employment applications, legal cases, correspondence with state leaders, requests from city councils, conference correspondence, and general communication and personal mail. As Executive Assistant, Loy was responsible for communicating and coordinating with national and regional Governors’ Conferences. The conferences that Loy prepared materials for included the Midwestern Governors’ conference, Middle Atlantic Governors’ conference, Southern Governors’ conference, the National Governors’ conference, the Republican Governors’ conference, and the Southern States conference. Included are papers and communication relating to these events. Also included are personal and general correspondence related to Loy’s duties managing Governor Moore’s public appearances, requests for entertainment, speaking engagements, endorsements, and tours of the State Capitol.
