Scope and Contents
The Correspondence series appears to have been used as a central file by Governor Moore’s office staff. The series consists of written correspondence between Governor Moore and a wide variety of people, mainly between 1985 and 1988. These include officials of the federal government, such as congressional representatives, cabinet officials, and White House personnel. Moore also corresponded with diplomats and government officials from other countries. This subseries includes correspondence that Moore had with West Virginia state officials, local government officials, such as mayors of towns in West Virginia, as well as the government officials of other states. Authorities within the Appalachian Regional Commission and the National Governors’ Association were among those with whom Moore corresponded, too. Lastly, this series includes correspondence between Moore, business officials, and his constituents.
