Scope and Contents
Kemp wrote the book The Wheeling Suspension Bridge: A Pictorial Heritage with Beverly Fluty. The box includes drafts of the text and captions in the book, correspondence, photographs and floppy disks. The box includes facsimiles of the following: clippings, photographic prints, contact sheets, drawings and engineering drawings. Subjects include Wheeling, West Virginia; the Wheeling Suspension Bridge in Wheeling, West Virginia; Charles Ellet Jr.; suspension bridges of the Ohio Valley; the Wheeling Custom House (also known as West Virginia Independence Hall) in Wheeling, West Virginia; and the Museum of the Oglebay Institute in Wheeling, West Virginia. The following oversize items were moved to Map Cabinet 12, Drawer 10, Folder 4: two engineering drawings (undated).
