Overview

Genealogical charts, correspondence and notes about an Upshur County family compiled by a descendent, Marthafern Bacon. Bacon relates tales about this family of pioneers and Revolutionary War veterans containing members of remarkable longevity. Of note is a story about Issac A. Morgan who when past the age of 70 walked to Kansas and back to visit a cousin. He said, "When you've seen a mile of Kansas you've seen it all." Significant mention is made of a family heirloom, a pierced tin lantern, that belonged originally to Zedekiah Morgan, a Revolutionary War veteran. Material covers the years 1455-1988.
