Overview

Letters written by Francis M. Skillin of the Maine 15th Volunteers, Company H to friends and family in Garland, Maine. Topics include Union General Neale Dow and Maine draft evaders fleeing to Canada. Four letters were written from Martinsburg during the winter of 1864-65. Other letters were written from Augusta, Maine; Cambridge, Massachusetts; Pensacola, Florida; and Baltimore, Maryland.
