Overview

One lottery ticket issued in Morgantown, Monongalia County, Virginia in 1800 (3 in. x 4 in.). Text on the ticket reads: "This ticket in Morgantown Lottery, No. [ ], shall entitle the holder thereof to such lott in said town, as shall be drawn against its number, agreeable to the terms of said Lottery. Jacob Kinney, William Wirt, John Coalter, Managers, June 2nd, 1800." This item is the earliest known Morgantown imprint, according to "West Virginia Imprints, 1790-1863", a catalog compiled and edited by Delf Norona and Charles Shetler, and published in 1958.
