Three family genealogies have been compiled: the Barr, Gregg, and Ripley families. Various records of births, deaths, marriages, wills, land sales, appraisals, deeds, and cemetery readings are found in each folder. The counties in which these families lives are Tylers, Harrison, Monongalia, Randolph, and Ritchie. The Barr Family originally came from the British isles and Germany. The genealogy begins with James William Barr and Sarah M. Carpenter Barr. They were marriage in 1821. Allied lines are Swan, Moore, Carpenter, Poole, Kern, Nicklin, Gragg, Ripley, Wilson, Broadwater, Taylor, McKnown, Ramsey, Satterfield, Bunner, Duckworth, and other. The Gregg Family descends from two George Greggs who settled on Middle Island Creek in Tyler County, W. VA.: George Sr., Mary Gregg, and George Jr. The Words to "The Old Homestead" appear. In-laws and relatives include the Ripley , Collins, Dotson, Wilson, Broadwater, Barr, Hall, and Baker families and others. The Ripley Family descends form Lewis Ripley and Mary Miller Ripley who came to Tyler County in 1806. Allied lines are Carpenter, Gregg, Ripley, Wilson, Broadwater, Owens, Gray, smith, Barr. James, Bond, Thomas, Brickland, Jones, and others.
