Overview

Xerox copies of typed copies of letters written by Theobald Renner, a German immigrant, from Buffalo, W. Va. To his relatives in Germany. One letter is dated 1854, one 1858 and one letter is incomplete. In the letters Renner gives his general impressions about America and Americans, talks of economic conditions, religious practices, and social customs. Included with the letters is a copy of a newspaper clipping from the Kanawha Walley Leader entitled "Echos from the Past" and dated November 17, 1961. The clipping includes a summary of the Renner Letters.
