Collection of material regarding the Borror family, collected by Linda Warden, a member of the Borror family. The Borror family is extensive; the West Virginia branch of the family lived in the Eastern Panhandle in the vicinity of Pendleton and Grant Counties. Includes a photograph album; photographs; family newsletters; material from family reunions; and family history and genealogy. There are notes from the collector providing historical and contextual information throughout the collection.
The Borror family has been holding family reunions on a regular basis since 1989; this collection contains programs, photographs, minutes, and other material regarding the reunions (box 1; folder 1; 1897, 1989-2019). Also included in this collection are issues of “Borror’s Corners”, a newsletter of family history and genealogy (box 1; folders 2-3; 1987-2006). Of particular interest is the issue of February 1990 (no. 8), which contains an article about the West Virginia Borror Farm. There is also a copy of the genealogy and family history that was sent by Linda Warden to Frank Borror for inclusion in the book he was compiling regarding the Borror family (box 1; folder 4; 1998). See “Separated Materials” for information regarding this book.
Part of the collection regards Carson M. Borror, the grandfather of collector Linda Warden (box 2). The photograph album contains his photographs of Civil War battlefields, some accompanied by hand-drawn maps of the positions of the two armies (ca. 1920s). Most of the battlefields photographed are located in West Virginia. There are also photographs of Charles Borror’s Pendleton County farm taken by Carson on visits there (1920, 1924) and additional photographs of the same farm (1976).
