Papers of Evelyn Ryan, reporter at The Dominion Post and newspaper union activist; includes a full run of The Lairiat, a public relations newspaper focusing on the construction and opening of the West Virginia University's Mountainlair, records of the Mountaineer Newspaper Guild circa 1970s-1980s, and papers about unionizing newspaper workers and various newspapers.

Evelyn Ryan was a reporter for The Dominion Post for 45 years from 1968 until her retirement in 2013. Evelyn was a charter member and the recording secretary for WV Press Women, a subdivision of the National Federation of Press Women, established in 1972. She is a multi-award winning reporter and writer, having won many writing contests held by the Press Women. Evelyn was also an activist for women in journalism.
