Scope and Contents

Papers of West Virginia University faculty Librarian, Carroll Wilkinson. Wilkinson worked for the University libraries for 41 years, taking on various roles. She was also heavily involved with the West Virginia University Women and Gender Studies Program, working closely with themes of women in non-traditional workplaces and coal. The collection includes materials on the West Virginia University Libraries and the Center for Women’s Studies. For the WVU Libraries series of the collection, materials include correspondence, meetings, exhibits, pamphlets, and reference materials. Also included in the collection are photographs, posters, and newspaper clippings. For the Center for Women’s Studies series of the collection, materials include course offerings, teaching materials, correspondence, research materials and conferences. Also included in the collection are publications, newspapers, projects, notes and exhibit materials. Notable themes in the series include: the Council for Women’s Concerns and West Virginia University’s Women’s Centenary: 125 Years of Women at WVU. Also included in the collection are various materials on women and coal, including newspaper clippings, articles, resource materials and photographs. The collection is split into two series, the first being West Virginia University Library History, boxes 1-5 and 11. The second series is the Center for Women’s Studies, boxes 6-10 and 12-13.

Addendum of 2024 June 05 consists of a binder of material regarding various courses and library integrations into the Women's and Gender Studies program.
