Scope and Contents

Includes records generated by West Virginia University’s College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (CPASS), which is now known as the College of Applied Human Sciences, School of Sport Sciences. The collection reflects everyday internal operations, staff and leadership activities, administrative plans and reports, outreach and community events, the CPASS Hall of Fame and other college events/awards, the development of campus facilities used by CPASS and WVU Athletics, and other subjects. Common material types include photographs, scrapbooks, bound reports, printed notes and correspondence, event programs and bulletins, magazines, and newspaper clippings. A box-level inventory is provided below.

Biographical / Historical

The West Virginia University School of Sport Sciences was established in 1928 as the Division of Physical Education. The school has gone through several name changes in its history, but it was known as the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (CPASS) from 2008-2022, the period during which this collection was compiled and donated. In 2022, as part of WVU’s academic transformation plan, CPASS was merged with the College of Education and Human Services to create the College of Applied Human Sciences.
