This collection documents the planning, construction, and groundbreaking of the former Business and Economics Building at West Virginia University. Materials date from 1988–1991 and include records related to design, event planning, and photographs documenting constuction. Groundbreaking happened in 1989, and the building served as the home of the College of Business and Economics (later named the John Chambers College of Business and Economics), until the college relocated to Reynolds Hall in 2021. Includes event planning materials, slides, photographs, newspapers, and architectural drawings. All photos are labeled with project, owner, architect, contractor, date, and photo descriptions. Two small boxes of film slides. Two newspapers, The Daily Athenaeum and The Charleston Gazette, both dated 1989, highlight the groundbreaking. Individuals prominently featured include Cyril M. Logar, Interim Dean of the College of Business and Economics.
This collection does not include information about the relocation of the College to Reynolds Hall,the building's closure for renovations in fall of 2022, or its reopening in October 2024 as Field Hall which housed various Eberly College of Arts & Sciences programs.
