The Morgantown Female Academy was chartered in 1830 in Morgantown, West Virginia. In 1843 it was enlarged and renamed the Whitehall Female Seminary. In 1860 the name was changed a second time, to the Morgantown Female Collegiate Institute. In 1869 the name was changed yet again, to the Morgantown Female Academy.
