Overview

West Virginia University's chapter of the West Virginia Student Public Interest Research Group (WV-SPIRG) was a student-funded and student-directed, non-partisan and non-profit organization dedicated to defending various areas of public interest. Miscellaneous printed materials including petitions, flyers, a meeting agenda, and circular letters from the group document the history of the organization and its activities in the Morgantown, West Virginia, area in the early 1970s. Topics include the history and purpose of WV-SPIRG, support for Jay Rockefeller, voter registration, environmental issues, and student movements. Also included is the petition for the creation of the organization.
