Edwin Flowers Legislative Reports

Overview

Typed transcriptions provided by WVU Hospital staff of legislative reports prepared by WVU Vice-President Edwin Flowers. The reports were made available to the WVU community during legislative sessions. Special emphasis is placed on information relevant to WVU Hospitals. Because of general budget tightening, there was much concern at the time about funding for the new hospital and salary increases for classified employees.

Most of the letters are to Helen M. Robinson of Fetterman, Taylor County, West Virginia, from relatives and friends. Subjects discussed include housekeeping, fashions, farming, schools, religion, and the Civil War from both the Confederate and Union perspectives. There are frequent, specific references to the political and military state-of-affairs in the upper Ohio Valley region.
