Abercrombie & Fitch, Artifacts
T-Shirt designed and marketed by clothing retailer Abercrombie and Fitch. The shirt is bold orange in color and bears the phrase, 'It's all relative in West Virginia,' in blue in front of an outline of the state. The shirts made national news in March 2004 when West Virginia Governor Bob Wise wrote a letter to Abercrombie and Fitch demanding that they discontinue sales of the t-shirts. Wise criticized the company for depicting 'an unfounded, negative stereotype' of the state.

Papers of Dr. Abner Osburn, a physician who practiced in Jefferson County, West Virginia in the late nineteenth century. The collection contains Civil War material, including a letter, currency, and a pass from Harpers Ferry. Abraham Johnson of Essex County, New Jersey, settled on Patterson Creek in Hampshire County, Virginia, in the mid-18th-century. Collection contains newspaper clippings, notes, and correspondence related to the genealogy of the Abraham Johnson family of Hampshire County, Virginia, as compiled by Edgar Johnson Davis and Annie Dent Davis of Greensboro, North Carolina. Also includes a copy of the Johnson family genealogy that Dent published in 1939 with handwritten notes.

Abram Marsh, Soldier, Civil War Letter From Hospital
Photostat copy of a letter written by Abram Marsh, a Union soldier, to his sisters in West Virginia, dated 11 October 1864. Marsh had been wounded and was writing from the field hospital at Sandy Hook, Maryland. Marsh writes of his homesickness, his slowly improving health, and his desire for news from home.
