Marion County Civil War Payroll, Letter, and Deeds
Two Marion County deeds: one dated 1873-74 is between a Mr. & Mrs. A. S. Robertson; the other dated 1892 is between two different Hawkes. Civil War items: a muster debt payroll dated between 1863 and 1866; a letter from an L. Simpson of Newburg dated July 18, 1861 describes Union troop movements through the vicinity, the local war time manpower shortage, and mentions early battles in the area.
