Scope and Contents The papers of Hugh Ike Shott of Bluefield, W.Va. Mr. Shott was owner and publisher of The Blue Field Telegraph and the Sunset News. He was also owner of radio stations WHIS of Bluefield, and served as postmaster in Bluefield by appointments of Presidents T. Roosevelt and Taft. He was twice elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, 1928 and 1930, and in 1942 was elected to the U.S. Senate for the unexpired term of M. M. Neely. Mr. Shott was also a member of the W.Va.
