Papers of PFC George W. Marshall (1895-August 17, 1918) and PFC Fred W. Marshall (1897-July 29, 1918) of Greene County, Pennsylvania. The two brothers were killed in World War I a few weeks apart. Fred served in Company K of the 110th Infantry, George served in Company C, 313th Machine Gun Battalion. Includes mostly letters that they sent home, 1917-1918. Isaiah Shephard of Ritchie and Wood counties was the progenitor of this family which frequently corresponded with one another. Many of the letters were received by Roxie Shephard, as a young woman, from her friends and suitors. Much of the collection deals with Hiram W.
