Jean Lee Latham (b.1902) Typescripts
Typescript copies of several works of Latham: THIS DEAR BOUGHT LAND, a story of the Jamestown settlement; TRAIL BLAZER OF THE SEAS, the story of Matthew Fontaine Maury; and a serialization CARRY ON, MR. BOWDITCH. Latham was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia, graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in 1925, and became a prolific and distinguished author and playwright.

Papers of a Baltimore essayist and novelist which include selected materials pertaining to the Berkeley Springs-Martinsburg-Winchester area, visits to Richmond, Salt Sulphur, and White Sulphur Springs, and a journey in 1850 to Philadelphia, New York, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Louisville from Kennedy's journal, 1848-1855; and his diary, 1829-1832. There are also selected letters and portions of a diary copied from originals in the Library of Congress.

Collection contains one typescript entitled "The Universe and Life: The Secrets of Nature Constitute a Challenge to the Inquiring Mind of the Layman as Well as the Mind of the Scientist.” This booklet is an abbreviation of “The Universe and Life,” a book written by McNeely in 1930.
