Overview Copies of maps drawn and painted with water colors by Robert Knox Sneden, a Union soldier who served for a time as a draughtsman making maps on the staff of the III Corps of Samuel P. Heintzelman. Although serving in the eastern theater of the Civil War, the 316 maps in the collection show Sneden's interest in documenting military campaigns, battles, and strategic terrain in most theaters of the conflict.
