Film depicts the First Annual Appalachian People's Music Fair held in High Knob, VA on September 12 and 13, 1970. Five musical segments of jug band, bluegrass, blue, and two special numbers - a strip-mining epic and the tragicomic "Ballad of Big Josie" - are shown.
