Index Card Notes: To the honorable the [sic] General Assembly of VA. The petition of a number of the inhabitants of a part of the counties of Berkeley and Hampshire, respectfully sheweth: Your petitioners inhabit the extreme parts of those two counties... they suffer great inconvenience and oppression traveling to their respective court houses... your petitioners pray that a county may be laid off bounded as aforesaid, and that the town of Bath may be declared by law, to be the place for holding courts, and erecting all public buildings for the new county.
