Index Card Notes: To the honorable, the General Assembly of Virginia. The petition of the inhabitants of Monongalia [sic] County, humbly sheweth: that many of the citizens of said county, labor under great inconvenience, on account of the distance they have to travel to the seat of justice;--we are therefore desirous to have our county divided... so that those who live at the east end, may have not more than twenty miles to go to court from the extremity... many have upwards of 40 miles to travel to the present court house.
