Index Card Notes: To the honorable [sic] the speaker of the House of Delegates of the Commonwealth of Virginia [.] The petition of the undersigned inhabitants of Monongalia County humbly sheweth that... the clerks of the judiciary... have located here at expenses to themselves and families... your petitioners are impressed with the belief that a number of district chancery courts will be established the ensuing sessions... your petitioners pray that the site of the former district courts of law may be made the site of the chancery courts and that the former district court clerks may be made clerks in chancery.
