Index Card Notes: To the honorable, the general assembly of Virginia: the undersigned petitioners would humbly represent to your honorable body, the necessity of an act for the further protection of game. The practice has become prevalent in our section of the state, of running deer with dogs, to the very great injury of the farming interest, and will go to destroy entirely that species of game from our forest... tearing down fences and tramping grain fields... your petitioners would suggest levying a tax on the keeping of many dogs...etc.
