Index Card Notes: To the legislature of Virginia. Your memorialists respectfully represent, that the passage of a law at the last legislature, authorizing a survey of a route for a road, which survey was made, but made so far north of the proper route that it would remain a grievance to the citizens of Fredick and Hardy Counties as well as to the others... your memorialists pray that further legislation be suspended upon said route, and an act passed authorizing an survey of a road be made from Winchester, thence to Duck Run Gap in the North Mts.; thence to WM. Baker's upon Lost River; thence with or near the new road through the Bean's Settlement to Phil's Lick, at the Eastern foot of the Sugar-Load; thence through Mannon's Gap; thence to Moorefield... this Route is known to many to be every where practical.
