Index Card Notes: A petition, to the honorable the general assembly of Virginia. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Berkeley County represent:-- They cherish a deep interest in the success of the cause of colonizing our free Black population with their own consent. On the western coast of Africa... and the approbation of the cause by the annual appropriation from the public treasury in aid of that object... much good would be rendered if the restriction contained in the act preventing its benefits from applying to the case of slaves manumitted for the purpose of being transported to Africa were removed...etc.
