Index Card Notes: Petition. To the general assembly of VA. We citizens of Greenbrier County, feeling ourselves aggrieved, respectfully ask of you their proper tribunal, a redress. We are a mountainous county and have no easy and cheap transportation for our produce to market by land, railroad or water... But when the products we must have are increased by taxation, we complain... your petitioners respectfully ask the legislature of VA. for the special enactment of a law permitting dry good and grocer peddlers to trade in the county of Greenbrier, and that they, for this privilege, be taxed in proportion to the capital they employ.
