Index Card Notes: To the honorable the Legislature of Virginia: The undersigned citizens of Brooke County, VA., represent that the territory of the Co. Being a long narrow strip lying between the Ohio River on the West and the boundary line between this state and the state of PA. On the east--is intersected by numerous large streams...making travel inconvenient and at times dangerous...your memorialists state that such is the magnitude and form of the territory of this county, that a due regard to the interest and convenience of the citizens thereof imperiously require that it be divided into two counties. Your memorialists beg you look to the map for truth of it.
