Index Card Notes: To the hon: the senate and Houde of delegates of the state of Virginia: The petition of the undersigned citizens of Berkeley County respectfully represent that they feel a deep interest in the early completion of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal to Cumberland, the company and others believe early completion will be assured-- provided your honorable body will extend your aid so far as to guaranty the payment of a small portion of the bonds of said canal co.; say to the amount of $300,000. etc... Your petitioners pray that a law may be passed, giving the guaranty.
