Index Card Notes: To the general assembly of Virginia: The undersigned citizens of Wellsburg, and of Brooke County generally, most respectfully represent that while almost every other county in the beloved commonwealth is developing resources while Brooke County, equally loyal; has been passed by. We humbly pray for a bill including therein first a charter for a railroad from the Va. State line, t Through Holidays cove to a point on the Ohio River in Brooke County near to or opposite Steubenville in the State of Ohio and then by branch down the Eastern shore of said river to Wellsburg, and secondly a charter to build a bridge on the Ohio River at Steubenville for railroad purposes.
