Index Card Notes: To the members of the House of Delegates and Senate of Virginia: your petitioners, citizens of the counties of Mason, Jackson, Wirt and Gilmore, respectfully represent that the legislature at the session of 1847 passed an act authorizing construction of a turnpike road that the citizens of Mason have declined to subscribe for their amount of stock and still decline...your petitioner deprecate further delay in construction and pray that a change of terminus on the Ohio River be made substituting for Point Pleasant the town of West Columbia in the County of Mason...Your petitioners further represent that in their opinion, the alterations suggested would induce an immediate subscription of the unsubscribed stock, and result in the completion of the road...etc. Xerox Copy Purchase.
