Index Card Notes: To the general assembly of Virginia: the undersigned, citizens of the city of Wheeling, the town of South Wheeling, and the adjacent country, being informed that a petition will be presented to the general assembly for further legislation on aid of the Marshall and Ohio turnpike Co., do respectfully request that no such legislation ought to be enacted, at least without forbidding said co. to collect tolls for passing over any part of their road...the undersigned pray no toll-gates may be allowed on said road in either of said towns, or within a mile thereof.
