Scope and Contents
The Correspondence and Casework subseries includes casework, constituent correspondence, and general correspondence. For constituent correspondence related to legislative topics, researchers should also look in the legislative series (I.B).
The casework includes veterans' affairs; Social Security; immigration; Medicare and Medicaid; Small Business Administration; military nominations and discharge cases; employment; and financial aid for education.
Constituent correspondence includes numerous issues, such as the Vietnam War; the JFK Administration, assassination, and funeral; the Civil Rights movement; the Grafton National Cemetery; gun control; elections; the State Road Commission; the Becker Amendment and prayer in schools; Voting Rights Act; foreign aid; residual and foreign oil; the coal and steel industries; and communism. The series also contains general correspondence, such as “Thank You” letters, cards, robo-letters, opinion ballots, outgoing mail, National Federation of Independent Business ballots, and requests.
The subseries also includes correspondence with other members of Congress, the executive branch, and West Virginia government officials.

Arrangement
Moore’s staff filed most of the correspondence by last names alphabetically by year, and that order largely has been maintained. Some folders are labeled by subject, and some alphabetical runs of correspondence are incomplete.
