Incoming letters of two soldiers from Monongalia County, Edgar C. Jennewine and Frederick N. Jennewine of the 10th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, who fought in both the Spanish-American War and in the immediately following Philippine-American.
Includes 40 original letters, many with their envelopes, as well as some clippings and a photograph. Some of the original letters and envelopes feature patriotic color graphics.
Also includes electronic document on compact disc prepared by the donor that includes digital facsimiles of all original material in the collection. There are also facsimiles of material on the CD that are not included among the originals in this collection, including:
copies of transcriptions of all letters;
photos of a sandalwood box that Frederick N. Jennewine mailed home;
photos of Edgar C. Jennewine and Frederick N. Jennewine;
photos of Edgar C. Jennewine's uniform; and
discharge for Edgar C. Jennewine.
The contents of the compact disc were printed out and assembled into book form, and is available in the reading room of the West Virginia and Regional History Center.
