Taylor & Hyre (Heyer) Families Genealogies

 Collection
Collection Number: A&M 2580

Overview

Genealogies compiled by Kenneth M. Taylor of the Taylor and Hyre (Heyer) families, primarily the latter. The Hyre family is traced back to the birth of Hans Heyer in Benken, Switzerland. The family came to America when Leonard (born 1695) disembarked at Philadelphia in 1737 and settled his family in what is now Grant Co., WV. The family moved soon after the American Revolution to what is now Upshur Co., WV, being one of the earliest families to settle there. In Upshur County, John Heyer was one of the pioneer founders of the Baptist Church. Included is a biographical sketch of Kenneth M. Taylor. Material covers the years 1652-1988.
