This material consists of annual reports of county extension agents, cooperative extension work in agriculture and home economics, plans of work, annual narrative reports for West Virginia counties, annual reports of the Agricultural Extension Service (AES) (1912-1955), plans of work for the AES (1927-1961), and reports of Country Life Conferences. There is a typescript of the annual report from 1959, a Plan of Work from 1961, and narrative reports from 1961 for 53 of the 55 Counties. See inventory sheets for complete listing of items. ADD of 2024 December 4 includes memorandums of understanding, correspondence, etc. pertaining to the early formation of Agricultural Extension in West Virginia and at West Virginia University. Subjects include family food production, farm forestry, dairy, extension at West Virginia State College, 4-H, County Extension, and more. Highlights include a state legislative resolution related to the Capper–Ketcham Act (1928) and a memorandum of understanding between West Virginia University and United States Department of Agriculture to establish the terms of state extension work (1955).
