Includes county-by-county records of all 4-H members who attended the National 4-H Congress in Chicago from the 1930s-1990s. This was a major national event, and represented the pinnacle of the National 4-H Awards Program. Each one of these records contains a fairly detailed report on project work, and many contain photographs, first person stories, and other information. These records would be extremely valuable to someone researching agriculture, agricultural history, 4-H, youth development, or education. The relative consistency of the types of information collected over the years in these records facilitates identification of changes and trends in the data. They are already relatively well organized as they are divided by county, and appear to be mostly in chronological order.
Also includes National 4-H Alumni Recognition Award winners, scholarship winners, as well as a small amount of information on African-American award winners from the time when the program was segregated.
