Tsukasa Kambara was born on November 22, 1954 in Kyushu, Japan, where he studied design and architecture. After spending eight years working as an interior and graphic designer in Tokyo, Kambara had the opportunity to move to the United States in 1983. He settled in Charleston, West Virginia with his wife and five children.
Kambara's artwork is inspired by both his native Japanese culture and adopted American culture, as well as architecture and abstract art. He describes his individual style as a portrayal of chaos and order, two states which contradict yet exist in harmony.
