Overview

Genealogy of the Judy family extending back to the birth in Switzerland in 870 of Johann Von Glarus, who though born a slave, attained freedom and became knighted by Ludwig III who appointed him chief administrator of Glarus Canton. Another early prominent family member was Heinrich Von Schudi who as chief military officer to the royal court was bestowed (ca. 1100) an honorary title that became used as the family surname. The first members of the family to come to America were Martin and Rosena Judy who emigrated in 1738 to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
